Medskin clinics offer professional nurse-led aesthetics for discerning clients in the Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby and East of England areas. We’re happy to answer any queries you may have and one common question we’re continually fielding is exactly what Restylane is. Our brief guide below should answer your questions:
What is Restylane?
Restylane treatments consist of a range of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers which are injected into the skin, however, they are not the same as Botox. Botox consists of botulinum toxin and aims to reduce muscle activity.
Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by the body and the Restylane range of products aims to enhance facial areas and smooth away wrinkles. Restylane products are geared towards treating specific facial areas, for example, Restylane Silk helps to smooth away wrinkles around the lips while also adding subtle gel filler which augments and defines lips to the full. Restylane is used to add fullness and volume to areas of facial skin that have folds or severe wrinkles and can also be used to augment lips.
The Restylane range of products are some of the most commonly used facial fillers on the market and comprise of transparent hyaluronic acids which can add fullness, hydration and greater elasticity to the skin.
How Long Do I Need Between Restylane Filler Treatments?
You can expect long-lasting results from full Restylane treatments. Where folds are treated with Restylane results can last up to 18 months, cheek treatments tend to last from 10 to 12 months, while Restylane Silk lip treatments will last from three to six months.
Are There any Side Effects of Restylane Fillers?
After you have received your first Restylane treatment you may experience some redness, swelling, pain or bruising for a while. In some cases, headache or lump formation can also occur. On the whole, any side effects are very mild and don’t usually last more than seven days for Restylane treatments and up to 18 days for lip treatments.
Bruising is more likely to occur if you’re over the age of 35, while swelling tends to affect patients under the age of 36 (insert link https://www.restylaneusa.com/resources/faqs).
