Dermal Filler Treatments

Dermal fillers are a highly flexible and effective medical cosmetic product for filling out lines and wrinkles as well as plumping up lips. Their versatility and consistent good results are well established, as is their excellent safety record.

All our dermal fillers are based on a natural, non-animal derived, substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in your skin and attracts moisture to your skins cells and maintains hydration. Nearly 90% of the upper layer of your skin is hyaluronic acid. Due to the body’s natural aging process the level of hyaluronic acid in your skin reduces leaving skin less elastic and prone to wrinkles and lines. Using a very fine needle, dermal fillers are injected just below your skin to replace your skins natural hyaluronic acid and forming a gentle cushion that will smooth out wrinkles and furrows.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are an extremely flexible treatment and can be used to enhance many areas by filling out wrinkles, smoothing away lines as well as giving volume to cheeks or lips.

Nose to mouth lines

As we age the naso-labial (nose to mouth) lines become more prominent as the skin loses its natural levels of fat and collagen. This reduction in the amount of fat and collagen in the skin also causes cheeks to drop. Dermal fillers are extremely effective in treating these areas and have a dramatic anti-aging effect.

Lines between the brows

One of the most common and immediately effective cosmetic treatments is the removal of brow and forehead lines, particularly the removal of lines between the brows. If the frown lines are deep dermal fillers are often the best option to smooth out the wrinkles.

Lip enhancement

Dermal fillers are used to create luscious, fuller and more defined lips. Your lips will be soft to the touch without looking as if they’ve been ‘done’. Several treatments, given over a period of time, will allow you to build up your desired look to create lips that you’ll love.

Dermal Filler Questions

What is dermal filler?

At Medskin Clinic we use high grade dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid when injected under the skin will work in synergy with the bodys remaining collagen and elastin giving plumpness and a more youthful appearance. The products we prefer are Teosyal, Restylane and Juvederm. Your practitioner will advise the most suitable filler for you at consultation.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Duration of results vary from person to person depending where you have the dermal fillers and the type of filler used. Most dermal fillers last six to twelve months, lips tend to last six months.

Is the procedure painful?

A topical local anaesthetic cream may be applied to the area prior treatment if requested. The dermal fillers used at Medskin Clinic contain a local anaesthetic to help reduce any discomfort. Most clients tend to feel a mild sting on injection.

Are dermal fillers safe?

All treatments carry a degree of risk, these will be discussed at your consultation prior to treatment. At Medskin Clinic, only registered nurses who have undergone specialist training will administer the treatment. Safety is our number one priority and that is why we are an accredited clinic with “Save Face” which is the register that is accredited by Professional Standards Authority and recognised by the Government, The Department of Health, NHS England and The Care Quality Commission.
