Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) such as under the arm pits is an embarrassing problem that affects 1% of the population, both men and women. The condition can limit the type and colour of clothing sufferers feel comfortable wearing. Many sufferers of this condition often feel too embarrassed to talk about it so often it goes untreated. Though the condition can be treated surgically the procedure has a low success rate and can be complicated by the high risks of unwanted side-effects.
At Medskin Clinic we use anti-wrinkle injections (Botox®) injections as a safe, effective and non-surgical treatment of hyperhidrosis. Very small amounts of anti-wrinkle injections are injected into the under arm area which then block the nerves that activate the sweat glands. Most patients are happy to report a greater than 90% reduction in sweating from the treated areas after treatment with anti-wrinkle injections.
